Turtles All the Way Down Book Review Summary:

Star Rating: 5/5 because of the realistic friendships, difficult topics, and honest portrayal of good and bad
I loved Turtles All the Way Down (TATWD). So much so that I stayed up until three AM reading it the night the book was released.
Like many other readers, The Fault in Our Stars was my introduction to the author John Green. There are few authors that can rival Green’s ability to create YA fiction filled with characters who feel deep, realistic, and complicated emotions.
True love doesn’t always have a happy ending. People that you care about will die. There are good moments and sad ones as well. Families are complicated. You’ll fall in love, but it might not be the person you expected to.
I could not put this book down. Once again John Green created a world of believable characters and pulls you into their struggles and joys.
As someone who has struggled all their life with mental illness, I think Green did a great job of exploring how it affects every aspect of your life. The main character deals with OCD, and John Green based some of her experiences off of his own.
Green captured the way that mental illness impacts every relationship, positively and negatively. Sometimes, our disorders cost us relationships. Mental illness is unpredictable and difficult to live with.
Other times we can have clear moments of connection and understanding with the people we love.
